Chance of Storms Tomorrow

For the past few days, it has been windy throughout the Commonwealth. Since the brief lake effect snow events earlier this week, it has mainly mostly dry, but cloudy across the state. The cloudy skies made for poor viewing conditions for the Aurora on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Today, we expect the clouds to partially clear up and the winds to die down. We will end off the week with highs in the low to mid 50s, which is much warmer than it has been.

For tomorrow, we except overcast skies with pockets of rain arriving in the afternoon. Some of these pockets could bring severe weather to the western part of the state, with the main threat being strong wind gusts.

Windy Conditions With Precip On The Way

After a rainy end to the last work week, we have been experiencing relatively cool conditions with gusts as high as 25mph. Today those windy conditions will persist as generally sunny skies will be expected throughout the day. We will be experiencing a warming trend during the day on Wednesday. This will be followed by a small chance of rain on Wednesday night. Somewhat cold conditions are expected later in the week and into the weekend, with a low pressure system making its way from the Great Lakes to the Northeast on Sunday night into Monday. This will drop our temperatures significantly and even bring a chance of frozen precipitation.

Cool and Rainy Across the Commonwealth

The Commonwealth has seen cool, rainy conditions over the past 24 hours. The region has seen periods of rain, sometimes heavy, bringing a few inches of much-needed rain.

Over the next day or two, rain will clear out over to our north and east, and mostly cloudy conditions will take its place. Temperatures will return to a few degrees below average.

Looking ahead, the weekend will see seasonable temperatures and times of clouds and sun. The start of the next work week will bring warmer temperatures, but also multiple opportunities for precipitation.

Rain On The Way

Morning lows have been frigid the past few days with temperatures at or below freezing due to a high pressure system. This has brought clear conditions over the past few days, leading to radiative cooling overnight.

Later this week, a low pressure system approaching from the southwest will bring steady rain (locally heavy pockets) on Thursday, along with gusty winds. These winds will persist into Friday with lingering chances of showers.

This weekend expect relatively dry and cool conditions, with the exception of an isolated shower possible on Saturday. Wind speeds are also expected to die down on Sunday.

Cool Conditions Invade

The Commonwealth has seen a major cool down over the past few days as a cold front marched through the region. Temperatures over the past 24 hours have been cooler than average, with mostly cloudy skies.

The region will see times of clouds and sun throughout the next few days, with below average temperatures and dry conditions continuing. Temperatures will be 5-10 degrees below average.

Looking ahead, we’ll stay dry throughout the weekend, but a couple chances of rain are apparent for early next week. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 50s.

Seasonable Conditions This Weekend

Autumn has arrived, with fall-like conditions prevalent across the Commonwealth throughout the past few days. Temperatures have been seasonable to slightly below average.

Cloud cover will continue throughout the rest of the week, with temperatures going from seasonable to slightly above average. Temperatures will continue to rise throughout the weekend.

A low-pressure system will invade the region heading into Sunday, bringing with it chances of rain. Periods of rain may continue as the work week begins.

Fall Finally?

To start October a high pressure system dominated the area, causing for mostly clear skies and little to no precipitation as well as above average temperatures. Throughout this week we will see more seasonable temperatures. For today, we will begin to cool off overnight as a rain system caused by a cold front passes through. On Thursday night temperatures will drop as low as the mid 30s, causing for chances of frost. After that, temperatures will become more seasonable with lows in the 40s and highs in the mid 50s to 60s.

Late Week Warmth

Yesterday saw warmer conditions, albeit still below average for this time of the year, with the high temperature in State College reaching 56 degrees. Along with that, the state saw widespread showers with some rumbles of thunder. Those showers continued through the evening and transitioned to snow as time moved on.

 

For the next 24 hours, winds will remain blustery with wind gusts potentially reaching 35 mph. Temperatures today are lower than yesterday, with chances for lake effect showers or flurries for western Pennsylvania. Mostly cloudy skies over the Commonwealth with cloud cover dissipating overnight into Thursday.

 

Looking into the future shows temperatures gradually climbing later into the week with the potential for 70 degree high temperatures across the Commonwealth for the weekend. Conditions will be favorable as high pressure will keep the Commonwealth clear and dry. However, as the weekend gets closer, there will be an increased chance for rain.

 

 

Early Spring Snow

In a recap of the past 24 hours, conditions have been cold and windy. Wind gusts topping out well over 20 mph made for feels like temperatures in the 30s. Despite the wind and low temperatures, the skies featured some blue and sun. Spring this year has started off rocky in terms of typical spring like conditions.

 

On tap for today is a snow flurries scattered throughout the day, with accumulation not expected. However, you can expect the wind to be blown around with wind gusts reaching speeds over 20 mph. Coupled with a high temperature just below 40, be prepared for feels like temperatures sitting below 32 degrees.

 

Warmer conditions are on the way starting as soon as Saturday this weekend. With a high temperature expected to be over 70 degrees , Saturday will mark a shift in temperatures as we begin to see more and more days aligning with spring. With the higher temperatures comes more chances of rain. Showers beginning mid day on Saturday will remain through the weekend into Monday. After a brief respite on Tuesday rain will return and persist throughout the end of next week.

 

 

Temperature Rollercoaster

Looking back at the previous 24 hours, lets talk temperatures. We’ve been experience a steady decline in higher temperatures, especially ones beginning with the number 6. Another factor has been the wind, with gusts up to 25 mph prevailing through yesterday. These gust impacted the feels like making for a chilly early spring day.

Looking ahead to what’s in store for Pennsylvania in the next 24, expect temperatures to take a dive even further on the cold side. Temperatures wont recover to what we have been seeing until this weekend, with temps in the meantime sitting in the high 40s and potentially low 50s. Thursday looks to be the best chance to see some rays of sunshine before clouds set back in for the majority of our near future.

As those temperatures begin to rise back up in the latter half of the week, so do our chances for rain. Starting Friday expect a chance of rain that lingers throughout the weekend, spilling into next week with the chance to continue into the latter half of next week. Temperatures will descend back into the upper 40s low 50s and expect gusts peaking in the upper teens.
