We will continue to see cool and wet conditions across the Southern half of the state throughout the day Tuesday and into the overnight hours. This round of precipitation comes from a stationary boundary draped right along the PA/MD border, with Pennsylvania being situated on the cold side of the front. This frontal positioning will lead to more stratiform precipitation and seasonably lower temperatures for the middle of the week. By Wednesday night a high pressure system will start to overtake the region, advecting in dryer air from the north and bringing mostly clear skies across most of the state for Thursday and into the weekend. This decrease in cloud coverage will also allow temperatures to rise back to average with increased radiative heating during the day. For eastern portions of the state, a Nor’easter has the possibility of bringing rain and wind impacts to the area for the weekend. Models are still in disagreement about the placement of the Nor’easter, but a track closer to the coast would bring higher chances for flooding and minor wind damage to the Southeast portions of the state.
