The discussion tells the public WHY the weather is doing what it is doing. It should be 2-3 sentences long and cover the same time period as the forecast. For CWS radio, that is 3 days. Remember, the
public doesn't know very much about the weather--only what it sees on television. It is ok to say cold front, warm front, storm, lake-effect, and high pressure, but MCC, cold-air damming, PVA, and other complicated terms should be left out. The discussion needs to be easy to understand, since our audience can only hear it. They cannot see graphics on a screen to help them understand.
